ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Matthew R. Gomez

Matthew R. Gomez is the name I use around grown-ups. My friends call me Matt. I was born in Brooklyn, raised in New Jersey, and college educated at Temple University in Philadelphia.

My entire professional career in communications has been in Florida, and that’s where the concept of Tarragon Green took shape. But imagination is everywhere…

I’m the proud father of two teenagers who have undoubtedly shaped the characters in my stories. When I’m not writing children’s books and poetry, you’ll find me watching baseball (Let’s go, Mets!) or fishing. May God bless our adventure together!

Who's Who?

Wally

Boy squirrel. Smart and brave.
Outwardly confident even when he is unsure of himself.
Likes to take charge, but is easily distracted.
Protective of Hazel. Always hungry.

Hazel

Girl squirrel. Polite and organized.
Free spirited and full of life.
Easily frightened, but never backs down from a
challenge, especially if it comes from Wally.

Questions

Why squirrels?

Curious, clever, and energetic. And they’re cute, too!
Squirrels are the perfect choice to find adventures on Tarragon Green.

Why carrots?

Like many of us, I grew up thinking rabbits ate carrots every day. I was wrong. Carrots are colorful, sweet and delicious. They deserve to be a fun and favorite food for an entirely different species.
